A piquant mixture of crushed nuts and spices originating in ancient Egypt, dukkah has many uses. The usual way to enjoy it as a snack or appetiser, is to dip firm crusty bread pieces into olive oil then dukkah. Sprinkle it over potatoes or other cooked vegetables to improve texture and flavour. It goes well on salads and makes a very tasty crumb coating for meat or fish.
