Cracking macadamia nuts requires a lot of force. If it is not carefully applied, the force breaks or crushes the kernel. Not many crackers, and the number of different designs and methods is huge, achieve perfect kernel extraction. If you have a few macadamias in a Christmas bag, the BONK ( https://bonk.co.nz/ ) will do the job neatly, indoors. Hammers and bench vices are strictly for outdoors and risk takers.
The TJ's from Australia is a great design and it's sturdy construction keeps it going for years. Recently the online market has been flooded with cheap versions of the TJs from the East. I have no idea what they are like but no guarantee is offered.......We stopped importing TJ's in the face of competition from these flimsy copies
There are also New Zealand made TJs type crackers which do provide warrantee, however these are pricy.
